“Love, Inshallah” – A Discussion with the Creators and Writers

Salams good people of New York City,

We’re all looking for love right? No? Okay.. maybe not.

Either way, there’s been a lot of buzz about the new book, “Love, InshAllah: The Secret Love Lives of American Muslim Women.” So much so that the New York Times wrote a review of the book: http://nyti.ms/ywuIOo.

The book has 25 written submissions which sweep aside stereotypes and share the search for love and reveal what it means to be a Muslim woman in America today. The writers represent a broad spectrum of ethnicity’s, races and religious practice and speak openly for the first time about love, relationships, gender, identity and sexuality.

The editors of the book, Nura Maznavi, and Ayesha Muttu will be speaking at Columbia Journalism School on February 15th at 7:00 p.m.

They’re going to talk about their intentions and purpose of the book and the road to publication. A couple of the contributors and listen as they read excerpts from their stories. To make this an even more of a baller event, Travel and Leisure editor, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Atlantic Monthly published essayist, Sarah Khan will be moderating the discussion.

It will be a great event, but would be even better if you can make it. Please RSVP here: http://www.saja.org/events

It’s a free event too! (we all like free things? right?)

P.S. If you still need to be lured into coming, I’ll sell you on the after party. We’ll be hitting up a brand new desi restaurant on 109th and Columbus – Shahi Birayni and Grill. The kheer was so good, when I took my first bite I thought I was committing a sin. And Gujrat Deli which has the best chai in Manhattan is two blocks away
