L.A-based filmmaker Farhan Arshad challenges mainstream television’s lack of desi actors while poking fun at South Asian stereotypes in his hilarious new web series, Brownies.

The webisodes take on a faux-documentary format that follows South Asian families as they try to get their children married. The beginning credits note that of the ten families that participated, nine dropped out after they found spouses–alas, leaving us with the lovable, but clueless character, Sal, on his journey to find a wife.

As an old soul trapped in a 25-year-old’s body, Sal insists on finding his wife through an arranged marriage despite his father Mustafah’s wishes. Played by director, Farhan Arshad, Sal’s infectious optimism and naivety amidst his somewhat dysfucntional family brings this highly original web series alive. Check it out!
