Sundance Winner “Valley of Saints” To Open Hamburg International Film Festival
Director Musa Syeed’s romantic drama “Valley of Saints” will open next month’s 20th annual Hamburg Film Festival. Set in turbulent Kashmir, the film focuses around the story of Gulzar, a boatman, and his childhood friend Afzal, on their escape to New Delhi and the people they encounter along the way.
Hamburg Film festival director Albert Wiederspiel said, “In this way we want to present Kashmir to our audience; the impressive nature and the myths of the ancestors on the one hand and the political instability of the region that we often forget about on the other.” The film won both the audience award and the Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
