Weekend Laugh – Desi Version of “Call Me Maybe” Goes Viral
Last year Rebecca Black’s Friday video went viral, this year Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen has produced an infectious takeover of the internet, radio, and apparently Indian-Pakistani Weddings.
Hearing this catchy song in every radio station has become a regularity; however, listening to this song play at weddings is a more recent trend. At a June 15th wedding of Mohsin and Sana, “Call Me Maybe” became the anthem for this desi couple. As friends and family prepared for the wedding, a few decided to make a video tribute to Jepsen.
While getting their hair done, break dancing on the dance floor, or singing in the elevator and even on a horse, this crowd was high on the wedding spirit.
In this video, we beam at the familiar scene of the vibrant colors of satin and silk and incredible amounts of dancing “the lightbulb” and bhangra. However, not only do we want to dance along, yet we can’t help but say “Awww” as the cute bride and groom serenade each other, lip-syncing to the pop song.
The Mohsin-Sana Wedding definitely tops most especially as we see the Indian-Pakistani culture come to life and bring the best of both worlds into the video with the addictive geet of “Call Me Maybe.”
