It’s an election year, baby, and President Barack Obama is coming out swinging. Whatever your politics, it’s undeniable that B.O. was fierce in his State of the Union address last night. From his impeccable suit to his authoritative oration, Obama’s not messing around, and he’s got a few tricks up his sleeve to mobilize young voters as he did in 2008.

One of the most creative campaign ideas he has going on is Runway to Win, “a collaboration by some of the country’s top fashion designers in support of Obama 2012.” Among the crew of 23 of fashion’s top brass designing for Obama are Indian-American Rachel Roy and Prabal Gurung, a Singaporean native who trained at New Delhi’s National Institute of Fashion Technology. The rest of the roster is star-studded as well; the names range from Narcisco Rodriguez to Jason Wu, and we can’t be the only ones wondering how much of a hand Michelle had in their selection.

The Runway to Win pieces don’t go on sale until Feb. 7 but are available for pre-order here.

My question to Rachel Roy: Does it really take $55.00 to reproduce her T-Shirt design? What percentage of the proceeds go to Obama’s campaign?
