Pakistan has had a very strong performance in this year’s ICC World Cup. Namely, in the group stage, they have managed to beat the previously unbeaten Aussies, as well as the highly-touted Sri Lankan squad. Now that they have routed the West Indies in the quarter-finals by ten wickets, they seem to be the most dangerous team in the ongoing World Cup.

Pakistan’s bowling, led by skipper Shahid Afridi, has been their strength. Their only concern is somewhat of a mediocre ability to score runs; however, if their bowlers keep knocking out opponents at the current rate they are going, Pakistan may be able to win it all without having a dominant batsman.

Pakistan now awaits the results of the match between India and Australia, which will determine who their next opponent will be. Both possibilities are very intriguing — India is known to have the best batting lineup in the world, while Pakistan has cemented itself as the team with the best bowlers. It would be an epic battle of strength versus strength. Australia would also be a great story, as they avenge Pakistan for finally stopping their 34-game unbeaten sequence in world cup matches.

And so the drama of what is proving to be one of the greatest world cups in history continues…

Is Southport a player on the Pakistani side? If so, I agree, he should be standing. In fact, he should never sit again. Such is the joy that he should be experiencing.
