With the frightening decline of quality in Bollywood music this past decade, we would like to say that this year…was not much different. Nevertheless, there were a few songs that were a much welcomed breath of fresh air. Our resident music expert Sana Anam Anwar takes you through the Top 10 Bollywood Songs of 2010.

10. Karthik Calling Karthik: Shankhar Ehsaan Loy

Uff Teri Adaa


Alright, let me be honest. I hated this song for the longest time. It would get stuck in my head for hours at the worst times possible (I’d like to blame this song for the reason I did not do to well on my Literature final – think having the line “ouf teri adaa, I like the way you move” playing nonstop in my head while trying to analyze Israeli and Palestinian literature). However, I realized later that this song has something quirky about it that just makes it unbelievably infectious.

“Uff teri adaa, I like the way you move

Uff tera badan, I like to see you groove”

Honestly, to make those lyrical gems actually work in a song, you need to work some magic – and Shankhar, Ehsaan and Loy did just that.

    This list is perfect! Without a doubt, I’m going to download these songs if I haven’t already. I really appreciate how the list encompasses such a wide range of genres and how it offers legitimate reasons as to why they were selected. Ranjha Ranjha and Gal Mithi Mithi are my personal favorites and I’m glad to see they made the list. Plus I’m really happy to see “Dil to Bacha hai Ji” on the top! Bhardwaj did an exceptional job and is on his way to becoming one of the big don’s of the bollywood music industry.

    Man this is one awesome list. I think the reviewer does well to go into lyrics, melody and singing capability instead of the more generic reviews you see out there that don’t go beyond saying that a song is simply ‘catchy’.
